One of the most well known areas of IHC expertise is in medical consulting and injury causation. Our utilization review reports are prepared by licensed physician professionals in the same or most closely similar practice area to that of the treating provider. Because our reviews are initially performed by licensed doctors, our clients are not hampered in the defense of the claim by allegations of computer generated reviews or other types of evaluations which have inadequate basis for medical conclusions and recommendations. Our expert reviews are exactly what the expression denotes, and places the adjustor or attorney in the best light for acceptance of the report as a strong tool.

Looking at damages?

IHC medical reports address, upcoding, medical necessity and causation issues. When combined with an impact analysis or accident reconstruction performed through Engineering, our medical reports help provide a comprehensive picture of the causation and nature of the injuries, as well as a thorough analysis of the mechanical forces at work as a result of  collisions or trauma.

Many law firms recommend to their clients involved in litigation, or headed in that direction, that they request an independent medical evaluation, or IME. This personal examination, when combined with other SERVICES available from IHC, allows the contested claim to be evaluated on a current basis with the present condition of the injuries being described in an objective and clear manner. The consulting physician performing this evaluation will dictate a comprehensive report outlining the present condition of the claimant, and in certain circumstances may be able to make recommendations as to the expected course of future treatment. This is particularly helpful when the course of the treatment has taken place over several years and the present status of the claimant is in question. An IME will assist the law firm in obtaining a current look at the injured person's condition, with all intervening treatments and exacerbations being taken into consideration. In some circumstances, the legal team may prefer to have a supplemental review, either in lieu of, or together with, the IME.

Fees for all Medical services vary depending upon the physician specialty required, the size and complexity of the medical records to be reviewed, the geographic location of the physician, and special conditions which may be requested by the client. All client telephone conferences with all IHC consultants in all specialties and professions, and all deposition and trial testimony requests, must be scheduled through IHC personnel. IHC staff time for scheduling and coordinating special services, and for travel and similar arrangements, will be billed in addition to the consultant's fee.
